At City and Islington College, it is not just our outstanding Ofsted report or Beacon status that sets us apart. Whether it is the way we reflect the diverse cultures of our local community, our commitment to the training of our staff, or the lengths we go to protect our staff, students and visitors, ours is an environment like no other and you will be at the heart of it.
About the opportunity:
City & Islington College is looking for a qualified Health and Safety Adviser to join the Estates and Facilities Team. You will support all aspects of Health and Safety across our multiple college sites, driving best practice and making sure we are abiding by legislations and regulations. That means raising standards - reviewing our policies and procedures, managing risk and developing initiatives that will shape our future performance. If your improvements are to make a real difference, compliance is mandatory. Designing health and safety training packages for staff, students and visitors, you will make sure that everyone is equipped with the information they need to stay safe. You will also maintain and investigate strict records of incidents, and produce statistics for the Employment Policy Committee. Rise to the challenge, and you will not only make significant improvements to our security, but help to reinforce our reputation as London's Leading College.
About you:
A professionally qualified health and safety expert, you will have plenty of experience managing and implementing procedures, ideally for a similar educational institution. Therefore, you will have no problem drawing on your knowledge of compliance and legislation to develop procedures appropriate specifically to the college. Supporting team members in proactive problem solving, as well as working closely with staff and students, calls for strong communication skills and the ability to take a discreet approach to each situation. Just as important, however, are the ways in which you juggle conflicting priorities, make important decisions with complete confidence, and show a firm commitment to customer care at all times.
About us:
It is not just our environment that makes this such a great place to work. We employ talented staff at all levels, are Investors in People accredited and have highly motivated students (96% of whom are happy with our teaching and learning). In fact, we are London's Leading College - but we are always striving to do things even better which is why it is so important that we attract the most talented teachers, lecturers and support staff. People who can help us build on all of our successes so far.
