Health & Safety Compliance Officer

This leading University owns several sites and properties across London ranging from listed buildings to high rise student accommodation. As well as playing host to several events throughout the year, they are also home to thousands of staff, students and alumni. They work cohesively with numerous tenants to create a welcoming University for all.

Your new role
Your new key responsibilities will be to co-ordinate the management and performance of key compliance activities across the University's estate. You will be taking the lead on the checking & auditing of compliance related to legionella, electrical safety, fire safety management, asbestos management, scaffolding, gas safety, workplace regulations and more... On a day to day basis you tasks may be anything of following:

• Liaising closely with internal colleagues in Property & FM to audit compliance of leased, managed and owned properties
• Owning and maintaining of the University's compliance management software package
• Coordinating asbestos management and ensuring effective management of site registers
• Reviewing and auditing legionella management and ensuring the monitoring of control regimes and ongoing performance
• Coordinating the statutory inspection schedule
• Analysing health & safety audits and risk assessments
• Promoting a positive safety culture

This is a diverse role working across a large estate with a good opportunity to support a strong manager in driving safety standards forward.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful you will need to have a good knowledge of estates management and compliance processes. Experience developing or overseeing an Asbestos Management plan, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, legionella management are also essential. Health & Safety qualifications and knowledge need to be at equivalent to TechIOSH level (NEBOSH General Certificate) and specialist qualifications in Legionella (BS1 Role of the Responsible Person, BS23 Water Systems, WHO 010 Control of Legionella within Water Systems) and Asbestos (P407 Management of Asbestos in Buildings) are highly desirable. You will need to be a team player with a diplomatic approach and positive 'can-do' attitude.

What you'll get in return
In return you will get a salary in the region of £35,000 - £42,000 per annum.
