Senior Health, Safety and Environment Manager

Location: London and Surrounding

Assured Safety Recruitment are partnering with a prestigious global group to recruit a Senior Health, Safety and Environment Manager in a newly created role. This role represents a fantastic opportunity to combine operational skills, whilst developing and honing your leadership skills.

You will manage five key sites in the London area and will lead the implementation of the corporate health, safety, environment and quality management system across your region. You will report to the Divisional Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and Compliance Manager, deputising as required and presenting to the Senior Leadership Team, assisting with the development of policy and supporting the management of the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality team.

You will focus on promoting and improving workplace/workforce health and safety; working with management and Trade Union representatives to remove obstacles and effect improvements.

You will insure there is a continuous two-way communication with the Regional General Managers and Site Managers for your region to ensure that they fully understand their legal requirements; the improvement actions and achieve compliance.

You will take a risk-based approach to pro-actively auditing and inspecting the sites within your region escalating risk to the GM’s, and taking appropriate action to reduce risk.

We are seeking applicants with strong trade union relationship experience, ideally from the transport/logistics/distribution environment. We will also happily consider applicants who have health and safety experience from alternative industries, where there has been exposure to transport and where employees are operating out in the field or at other client’s premises such as waste or utilities.

You will have exposure of working with and presenting to senior leaderships teams. In terms of health and safety qualifications;  ideally you will hold or be working towards the Nebosh Diploma or NCRQ or equivalent (consideration will be given to excellent applicants who hold the Nebosh Certificate).
