A significant new role for a Health and Safety Officer to join a leading design and build contractor.
Your new company
My client is a family-owned business of nearly 40 years with a proven record of success in design and build contracting. The company work to the key values of courtesy, respect and playing to the strengths of their staff - and are keen to promote on merit and talent.
The business has grown significantly in the past 5 years, increasing their annual turnover from £12m to more than £35m. They have a proud reputation for design and build projects and I am pleased to represent them exclusively in recruiting such an important role. You will join a team of 156 people including: HR, Finance, Sales, Design, Estimating, Commercial and Project Management (office and client sites).
Your new role
The Health & Safety Officer is a new role as the business look to consolidate after a period of significant growth in recent years. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director and work closely with the Operations Director and an external H&S consultancy. The role is likely to be based approximately 50% at the Head Office and 50% out on site with various clients including commercial, industrial and leisure - from both public and private sectors.
As Health & Safety Officer, you will work within a 70 mile radius of their Head Office in Fareham. The role will develop over the next few years, but the focus will remain on both a strategic and practical approach to H&S. 80-90% of your time will be dedicated to a wide variety of clients, with 10-20% working with a key client (a leading hotel chain).
The working hours are flexible, but typically between 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday (40 hours/week).
What you'll need to succeed
This is a mobile role so a Full UK Driving Licence is essential. As a new position with a growing, successful business, you must be a driven and adaptable person who is keen to develop with a company who will support your progress.
The successful applicant must hold a NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (ideally) and have some experience in a construction/building services environment.
