The opportunity
An exciting opportunity has opened up for an experienced Health and Safety Manager for a public sector client in Cardiff. You will be responsible for ensuring this organisation meets all of their Health and Safety obligations. You will be providing professional advice and support on all Health & Safety matters, to all areas of the business, to achieve legal compliance and promote best practice. You will be carrying out Health & Safety inspections across their UK property portfolio as well as maintaining, reviewing and delivering all aspects of their Health & Safety Management Control System and OHSAS 18001 (including preparation for re-assessments). You will be responsible for ensuring all relevant training is provided for all levels of the business, ensure Health & Safety policies and procedures are fit for purpose and are embedded across the organisation to maintain legal compliance and reduce risk as well as investigate, record site accidents and where applicable report to HSE.

In addition, this role has responsibility for the delivery of their Health and Wellbeing programme with a focus on preventing sickness absence through a more proactive and improved approach to health and wellbeing. You will be working closely with Managers and the HR Business Partners to advise on relevant reasonable adjustments and interventions relating to sickness absence, attendance and wellbeing.

This role requires a proactive person particularly for the Health and Wellbeing agenda, as it will involve working with managers in a collaborative way. At present there is no direct management responsibility in this role, but the role does involve management of the Occupational Health contract and as part of that contract there is an on-site Occupational Health Advisor.

Salary £27k - £33k
Holiday allowance of 30 days

What you'll need to succeed
You will need NEBOSH National General Certificate and previous experience of Health and Safety management is essential to this role. The NEBOSH Diploma is desirable or someone who is working towards attaining the NEBOSH Diploma. Excellent communication skills are required as well as a drive and passion for Health & Safety.
