Environmental & Sustainability Manager role at a major train operator, based in Central London.

Your new company
Our client is a major train operator in the UK, with more than 15 years of experience in delivering rail services. They are currently recruiting an Environmental & Sustainability Manager to join their team in Central London.

Your new role
Reporting directly to the Production Director, you will be involved mainly in leading the collation of information, data, key performance indicators and case studies for inclusion in pre-qualification questionnaires and bids. You will also provide technical support to the Bid Team on environment and sustainability initiatives and draft/assist with drafting text for inclusion in submissions. You will identify best practice within the company and support the implementation in other businesses.

On daily basis you will be responsible for driving and influencing change and improvements in all aspects of environment and sustainability issues. A consistent part of the role will be verifying, analysing and reporting datasets to identify where improvements need to/can be made. This includes the Self-Assessments against the Company Environment Strategy and performance against the Policy targets.

You will also identify and deliver programmes of action, e.g. for poor performing parts of the business to achieve cost savings and make prudent judgements on a wide variety of environmental and sustainability requirements for the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have previous experience in similar Environmental roles within large organisations. You will also have IEMA Certificate or Diploma in Environmental Management, a IEMA Membership and an extensive knowledge of environmental and sustainability legislation and practices.
