SAFETY HEALTH ENVIRONMENT & QUALITY BUSINESS ADVISOR

Provide a professional, high level responsive and effective advisory service on health and safety legislation, policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe working procedures to meet service requirements.

Support  HR and the Strategic Health and Safety manager in developing and implementing the health and safety strategy across the Council.  Working with senior managers and officers (duty holders and responsible persons) and assisting Elected Members and others in the discharge of their health and safety duties.  

To provide a high level of knowledge and expertise in the areas of specialisation, especially in most complex functions of Hull City Council and its partnership organisations, and assist in the management of highly interactive client focused services. 

To lead and manage an area of expertise and specialism in the design, development and implementation of health and safety intervention. Therefore ensuring cost-effective health and safety solutions, as part of the corporate change process, which are both proactive and responsive to customer needs, managing risk and reducing health and safety costs  which meet the Council’s (or external organisations where the service is 'bought') current and future objectives.  

To contribute to and assist in policy formulation for the service.

Essential:

Health and Safety NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.

Evidence of continuing professional development and/or membership of professional body, i.e. IOSH (minimum TechSP demonstrable evidence of working towards CMIOSH or IIRSM (minimum MIIRSM) and other memberships as appropriate.

OHSAS 18001/ISO 14001 and 9001
