Acre is excited to be working with one of the UK's foremost principal contractors to identify an Environment & Sustainability Lead to be responsible for the Midlands and the North. The successful candidate will have proven experience in a senior management position within the construction or civils sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the Environment & Sustainability functions on some of the UK's largest and best-recognised construction projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing environmental and sustainability policies and procedures which align with the strategic goals of the business
  • Providing overall environmental and sustainability leadership across all construction projects in the Midlands & North region
  • Developing and maintaining good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Managing a team of environment & sustainability specialists
  • Keeping up to date with and implementing changes according to UK environmental & sustainability standards and legislation

This position is ideally suited to someone with significant environmental and sustainability experience within the construction and civils sectors. They will need the skills to work across a range of stakeholders, along with the ability to take the lead in regards to environment and sustainability delivery across a variety or projects.

Key requirements include:

  • Previous experience managing a team of environment and sustainability specialists
  • Qualification in an environmental or related discipline
  • IEMA Diploma / IEMA Associate Certificate
  • Membership of recognised environmental body
  • Chartered Environmentalist desirable
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills
  • A proven ability to influence upwards in order to promote a positive culture
