The Human Resources team at Jaguar Land Rover has recently undergone a massive transformation project. That’s why we need your help to keep us focused as we move forward on our path to a successful transition. This role sits in the Health, Safety and Wellbeing function and includes the requirement to develop and deliver the zero harm ambition through deployed policies, processes and further requirements as appropriate at the location which the role holder will be responsible for.

As a manufacturing Safety manager, your role will be to manage input into the development of Zero Harm plans and the activities to identify and manage risk at the locations under your responsibility. Focusing on physical and behavioural aspects of risk management and control, you’ll be involved with the development and use of tools for  ensuring safety compliance and governance throughout all aspects of the Jaguar Land Rover management system.

You’ll provide direct support in various ways and through various mediums to location leadership teams, safety representatives and trade unions for the delivery of the Destination Zero ambition and the strategies and tools which will assist this journey. This will include attendance at appropriate meetings, development and delivery of reports and presentations, support in interpretation and assistance to ensure the right levels of competency for roles critical to safety. You’ll also participate in Risk Management liaison with liability insurers in cases they have responsibility for, together with representing the function to support other Jaguar Land Rover corporate requirements and governance activities.

In order to identify best practices and initiatives for developing the Jaguar Land Rover processes, you’ll need to keep abreast of key trends and industry movements by maintaining strong external networks while applying customer-first principles during all your interactions, whether internal or external. You’ll develop localised Zero Harm plans which are based on locations risk profile and performance, aiming to drive the zero harm ambition, and will apply working knowledge of key health and safety practices, best practices and industry knowledge when advising and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders and customers.

It will also be your responsibility to negotiate and influence Senior Management and other stakeholders where appropriate in addition to working collaboratively with other location teams and Centres of Expertise. In addition, this role will act as a location lead and point of contact and liaison for enforcing authorities and other external parties and agencies.


To be successful in this role, you’ll be a results-driven individual who demonstrates tenacity, drive and perseverance as well as the ability to deliver in a complex and highly demanding environment. You'll ideally be a member of IOSH and will be willing to travel across the UK and abroad as and when required.

You’ll require previous experience of working in similar role with a proven track record of successful health and safety delivery and stakeholder management.  Besides strong networking skills, you’ll also need strong analytical capability to identify how one issue can impact on another and put in place the required interventions through support or from your own knowledge base. A NEBOSH diploma or above and a UK driving licence will be required.
