About the role

Join us as a Health, Safety and Environmental Officer in a small but vital nationwide team to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of our health, safety and environmental management systems. You will provide specialist advice in each of the three key areas whilst identifying areas for continual improvement, helping to develop the current systems in place so they fit with the strategic direction of the organisation.

Your role will involve working closely with the Health, safety and environmental manager and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. You will play a vital role in not only ensuring compliance but also ensuring the health safety and wellbeing of staff, volunteers and clients across the organisation.

About you

To succeed, you will need a proven ability of adopting a solution-focused approach to customer’s questions and needs, and demonstrate sound judgement based on your knowledge and understanding. You will need experience of working in a health, safety and environmental advisory role as well as a commitment to keeping up to date with the latest developments and practices in the sector.

A key responsibility of the role is an understanding of systems and processes for planning and carrying out audits, either on site or remotely, this will involve some travel and data collection activities. The ability to work positively as part of a team as well as working closley with colleagues at all levels is a crucial skill in this role. Adding to this your first-class communication skills and your willingness to work independently for significant periods, whilst promoting the values and behavioural framework of the Society, you will quickly make your mark as part of our dedicated team.

You will hold a relevant professional qualification; minimum of a NEBOSH general certificate or an NVQ standard in health and safety.

An initial 2 week training/induction would be given at the start of the employment.
