Leading developer and manufacturer is looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager on a fixed term basis to join their high tech manufacturing organisation in Derbyshire.  With over one hundred years’ experience within their field they have built a worldwide reputation for high quality reliable products.

As the Health, Safety and Environment Manager you must be qualified to NEBOSH Diploma or Diploma in Environmental Management equivalent as minimum with relevant experience in Health, Safety and Environment Management. With experience in managing, influencing and developing a team to actively contribute to the success of the business. Experience in a lower tier COMAH environment with explosives operations or explosives safety, e.g. University of Cranfield (RMCS) explosive technology is a must.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities as the Health, Safety and Environment Manager you will ensure that measures are taken to ensure the risk to people and the environment from work activities are controlled. To continuously improve and reduce the cost of non-quality.

To continuously implement, comply and improve robust processes whilst minimising variation. Maintain the Company’s compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001. To act as an advisor who has the authority to stop work which is being carried out in contravention of agreed standards and/or which puts people at significant risk.

To advise senior and line management on HSE requirements. This is achieved by use of the planning process, through attendance at HSE committee meetings, and where timeliness dictates. Advise management and staff on the implementation of safety policies and codes of practice as required by the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, local councils and alerting management to any hazards and new legislative requirements.

You will assist managers, if requested, to investigate minor accidents and damage to property and recommending corrective action. A nominated representative will investigate all major accidents.

As the Health Safety and Environment Manager you will undertake any other duties, within the department, that are requested by your Line Manager to aid the performance of the department. These duties will not be of a greater or more complex nature and level of responsibility than those of the post holder, except with the appropriate mutual agreement and necessary training.
