Quality & Safety Engineer - Diverse Exciting Opportunity    

Global leader in their industry has created a brand new exciting opportunity for Quality and Safety Engineer to join their expanding forward thinking safety team. Very exciting time to join this engineering giant working with a tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry. This is a very diverse role which is client facing, no day is the same. If you are looking for an autonomous opportunity where you could be in a Construction environment one day and Manufacturing/Engineering the next then this is the role for you!

The primary function of the Quality and Safety Engineer is to lead and coordinate the CE certification process providing technical guidance and support to the engineering and project management departments.

Helping to produce technical files and completing safety risk assessments in line with the essential health and safety requirements (Machine Directives), and provide assurance that all products and systems are safe and legally compliant. Preparation and hand over of health and safety files and system documentation. In addition to also provide support and guidance on the companies Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems.

To ensure relevant EU Directives and harmonised standards are being adhered to enabling the CE marking of Systems and products designed, manufactured and installed by the organisation.

As the Quality and Safety Engineer you must have at least 5 years’ experience in Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental management with recognised CQI or IRCA qualification in quality or equivalent. You will hold NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent as well as NEBOSH Environmental Management or equivalent. Experience in CE marking and compliance with EU Directives is a must have as well as experience in Problem Solving techniques (e.g. 8D, Shainin, Taguchi, Six Sigma).

You will have experience in automotive engineering industry and be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. It is desirable to hold a Lead Auditor Qualification and have experience as a technical author, it would also be advantageous to hold the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety and experience of CDM sites and associated documentation would be beneficial.

As the Quality Safety Engineer you will have a working knowledge of European Directives, such as- Machine Directive, Low voltage, EMC & pressure equipment Directives. Undertaking machinery risk assessments, reviewing machine safety at each stage of the process from design, manufacture and installation. Conduct internal and external audits including, but not limited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
