About the role
CQC are looking for a full time Health & Safety Adviser to join the Workplace, Facilities & Safety team on a temporary basis for 12 months.
Reporting to the Health, Safety and Workplace Manager, you will be a key member of the team, supporting the CQC Health and Safety team and working with and delivering services to the NHSI Head of Corporate Services to promote health and safety and support its integration into every aspect of NHSI’s undertaking. This key role will assist the Health, Safety and Workplace Manager with the development and implementation of a robust health and safety management system, including participating in policy development, auditing, inspection, incident investigation and advisory services.
The role also involves managing the implementation and day-to-day functions related to business continuity in planning including maintenance and ownership of the CQC Business Continuity Plan and to act as technical and business engagement lead for within the Workplace, Facilities and Safety team.
You’ll come to CQC holding a recognised qualification to the minimum standard of NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent with at least 2 years post qualification experience as a Health & Safety Practitioner.
You’ll bring an experience and a broad knowledge of Health and Safety activities over a wide range of disciplines including knowledge of UK legislation and enforcement system and have demonstrable experience of coordinating and managing business continuity arrangements across a distributed organisation with staff based both in offices and at home
You’ll bring experience of producing and implementing policies and have the ability to interpret legislation and guidance so that it is proportionate and relevant to the activities of the organisation. You’ll have comprehensive knowledge and experience of regulatory health and safety requirements and experience of providing advice and guidance on health and safety matters in a large diverse organisation. To succeed in the role you will also need a number of soft skills including being able to influence the workforce and the ability to negotiate at management level.
The post holder will be expected to develop their professional knowledge through formal training and experience which will be supported and mentored by the CQC Health Safety and Workplace Manager.
