Your new company
Our client is a large Principal Contractor operating mainly in the Residential sector. They are currently recruiting for a Director of HSE to lead the department. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior HSE leader who is looking for a new challenge, with a key role within the senior management team.
Your new role
The main purpose of the role is to drive and maintain an effective health, safety, well-being and environmental management system for the Group, ensuring legislative compliance through effective practical policies and best practice procedures, and to assist regions in achieving exemplary standards of health, safety, well-being and environmental performance in all workplaces.
The candidate will be ideally based in Oxfordshire, from where they can easily cover the whole region.
Leading a team of 8 people, you will create and review health, safety and environment policies and documentation, ensuring that compliance with statutory duty, legislative requirements and best practice. With the responsibility of HSE within business, you will drive a 'safety different' culture built on emphasis of the positive, seeing people as the solution, and acting safely on ethical rather than purely mandatory grounds.
You will also maintain an effective environmental management system, and deliver continuous improvement of standards across the business, as well as promote well-being within the Group.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate is a senior HSE professional with experience in leading and managing Health and Safety in large organisations, within Construction or similar industries. You will also have relevant qualifications (i.e. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent) and CMIOSH membership.
