Your new role
You will report to the Head of Construction, Fire and Engineering Safety, with no direct reports.
As Construction Health and Safety Manager, you will be a specialist with a strong construction site and CDM management background. The role is responsible for the development, implementation and review of construction-related hazard advice and guidance to ensure that the university maintains its compliance with all regulations.
You will provide professional construction health and safety monitoring arrangements including audits, develop competence standards for key roles within the university and ensure legal compliance/best practice is implemented by consultants/contractors employed to undertake construction works.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal applicant will have a proven track record of construction management ranging from large capital projects to smaller refurbishment works in the higher education and/or research sectors or similar environments. Significant practical experience of construction site management would also be a distinct advantage.
You must be a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards/equivalent (Diploma/NCRQ etc), with a CITB site management qualification or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
