A 6 Month contract role for a Corporate H&S Officer to join a local council, based in Eastleigh & Hedge End.

Your new role

As Corporate Health and Safety Officer, you will report to the Facilities Manager on a 6 Month Fixed-Term contract, with potential to extend by a few months. This role is unlikely to become a permanent position.

You will be based in Eastleigh 4 days/week and in Hedge End 1 day/week. 37 hours/week: Monday-Friday. 8.30-5, but with flexibility on start/finish time and potential to work from home on occasions. This role will cover various locations, but most of the time will be visiting a waste management site, 2 local country parks and a theatre.

The primary purpose of this role is to review all policy and be available on site to monitor and improve best practice.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will be diplomatic and approachable, but assertive where required to influence relevant parties. This position would be ideal for someone who is immediately available or runs their own consultancy and may be keen on a 6 Month contract.

A NEBOSH General Certificate or Tech IOSH Membership is essential, but a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (Grad IOSH/NCRQ/NVQ) is preferred. You should have experience in a Corporate H&S role having carried out accident investigation/reporting and written H&S policies and procedures. A training background will be a further advantage.
