The HSE Recruitment Network is currently recruiting for full time permanent Health & Safety Manager to join leading retailer in the Hampshire area.

This Health & Safety Manager will:
• Ensure the business complies with all current Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) legislation, regulations and full compliance with ISO certification so that our employees, visitors and other third parties are operating within a safe and compliant environment on site
• Pro-actively advise management and employees on health, safety and environmental best practice
• Create and maintain a positive health & safety culture

The main responsibilities of The Health & Safety Manager:
• Attend external training courses and seminars to enable accurate interpretation of new or pending legislations for implementation within the organisation
• Provide the business with options and recommendation on working practices / proposed approach that would ensure compliance with current / future legislation
• Ensure that all Risk Assessments required by legislation are carried out, recorded accurately, reviewed at regular intervals and closed in a timely manner
• Provide pro-active support and expertise for risk assessments concerning employees (eg, maternity, medical related) and taking appropriate action depending upon the outcome
• Collaborate with HR and Site Services on DSE assessments, providing expertise and support, taking appropriate action depending upon the outcomes
• Conduct H&S inspections and prepare reports of all company operations
• Support Managers, Team Leaders and Supervisors in conducting and recording workplace inspections and documenting safe systems of work
• Notify Director of HR Director of any serious H&S situations that require immediate action or the stopping of any operation
• Maintain a log of accident reports and ensure that accidents, incidents, or dangerous occurrences are investigated as required and appropriate action is taken (including taking action to prevent future occurrences)
• Provide relevant EH&S reports including carrying out statutory reporting as is required by RIDDOR
• Where necessary arrange health surveillance as required with external occupational health organisation
• Highlight areas where training or certification is required to meet the standards imposed by legislations, approved codes of practice, or HSE guidance
• Identify new techniques or opportunities for improvement of health, safety and welfare within the organisation, challenging current working practices to improve the site environment
• To set a personal example by demonstrating all safety requirements and procedures
• Review EH&S questionnaire for approval of new onsite contractors before adding to the authorised list
• Ensure waste streams are segregated and correctly disposed of
• Keep a log of all significant site environmental communications to/from interested parties
