A Lead Health and Safety Advisor to join an established food manufacturer, based in Salisbury.

Your new company

My client are an established food manufacturer who are part of a hugely successful group of companies in Wiltshire. The business portfolio includes a number of leading food brands in the UK market.

Your new role

As Lead Health and Safety Advisor, you will be the 'competent person' for safety within the business and report to the Head of Operations (no direct reports). You will be based at the Salisbury site, but you must hold a Full UK Driving Licence as you may be required to travel to other sites on occasions (businesses/client locations). This is a varied role that will see you work with many departments: Manufacturing, Finance, HR, Logistics, Hygiene and Sales.

Purpose of the role:

To support the Site Senior/Operations teams and the Group Head of Health & Safety in developing and delivering best in class Health and Safety solutions which build a safety culture and ensure the site is a safe place to work and visit. To provide competent advice at all levels to ensure the highest possible standards of Health and Safety Management is achieved in compliance with company Health and Safety Policy and to lead the development and implementation of the site Health and Safety Strategic Plan.

Working hours: 40/week (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm or 8am-4pm). You will be required to work till between 6pm-10pm once a month as the site is in operation 24/7.

What you'll need to succeed

As Lead Health and Safety Advisor, you must be a confident and assertive person with proven experience in a manufacturing environment and a similar Health and Safety role, with a good working knowledge of HSE Management Systems (ISO 9001/14001 and/or OHSAS 18001).

You will be an organised person who can work on their own initiative, able to meet deadlines and deliver results. A NEBOSH Certificate is essential, ideally in addition to a Diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent (Grad IOSH / NVQ 5 / NCRQ / NEBOSH).
