Health and Safety Business Partner

The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) is proud of its long-standing reputation for preparing graduates for successful careers in the land-based industries. Many of our extensive alumni network have established and led businesses, which have shaped the global landscape of agri-food, land and real estate management.

As a small and specialised University, with many practical activities and events, we are a very busy Safety and Sustainability team.  We require someone with great motivation, dedication and technical expertise to help us drive forward cultural change and to realise the Safety and Sustainability strategy for the organisation. It requires a pragmatic, solution focused and hands on approach. The role is one of collaboration and support to provide our staff and students with a safe and healthy place to work, study and play.

This role will support the Safety and Sustainability Manager in embedding the health and safety management system across the RAU in line with ISO45001. You will act as primary operational contact for all fire, health and safety related issues and will partner with the business to ensure compliance with legal and other best practice requirements.

Suitable applicants should be professionally qualified with recent experience of dealing with fire safety, including experience of carrying out fire risk assessments in organisations of similar size and complexity to the University. You will have good people and business partnering skills with the ability to deliver training. Also essential is a working knowledge of health and safety legislation and experience of writing risk assessments and implementing control measures.

The University offers a comprehensive range of benefits including pension membership, 30 days annual leave and free parking.
