Overview
The Asbestos Manager is responsible for asbestos management across the Queen Mary Estate. The post holder shall ensure that through inspections, surveying and a prioritised removal programme that the asbestos management arrangements are both robust and maintained, with an overall objective of continual improvement.
The post holder will lead on co-ordinating full asbestos management surveys over the next 18 months in all QMUL buildings constructed prior to 1999. The information gathered will then be uploaded onto an electronic asbestos register which the post holder will be responsible for sourcing, implementing and managing.
Although the post holder will have no direct reports he/she will be expected to work closely with both Maintenance and Capital Projects. The successful candidate will be expected to make independent decisions and have the authority to ensure these decisions are complied with.
The post holder should hold a Nebosh General Certificate and hold the relevant asbestos qualifications. In addition the post holder should have professional membership of a relevant organisation such as Faculty of Asbestos Assessment and Management (FAAM), Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) etc.
The post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range £46,489 - £51,899 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
