Your new company
A leading public sector organisation based in the heart of Oxfordshire are looking to grow their Central Safety team with the addition of a Health & Safety Advisor. This team is responsible for monitoring compliance, driving forward the organisations policies and procedures, providing training and managing health & safety improvements.
Your new role
This is an organisation-wide role and as the Health & Safety Advisor you will be expected to support a wide range of departments and services in your role. Your key responsibilities will be to take lead on health & safety training, the variety of risk assessments and to lead of additional areas such as COSHH, ventilation, occupational hygiene and noise. You will be working closely with a sizeable team to deliver the organisations objectives on health & safety. On a day to day you will be getting involved with any of the following:
- Developing and delivering health & safety training
- Leading on occupational hygiene
- Monitoring chemical and physical agents
- Monitoring the programme for statutory examination
- Providing advice to departments and members of staff
- Advising and completing suitable risk assessments
- Monitor incidents and accidents
- Drafting of safety policies
- Attending departmental safety meetings

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful you will need to have a high level of professional health & safety expertise especially within complex and diverse environments. You need to be able to take lead on a numerous projects within various areas of health & safety and have previous experience in the management of health & safety within the education or research environment or within a scientific capacity. Qualification wise Membership to IOSH at a minimum of GradIOSH level is essential with CMIOSH being highly desirable. Occupational hygiene experience will also be a positive bonus.
