NHBC has a new opportunity available for a Head of Health & Safety. Working on a full-time permanent basis you will earn an attractive salary package offering up to £101,500 + Benefits + Bonus + Car. This role will require a presence in Milton Keynes but we will be open to candidates based from home that can accommodate the visits into headquarters, when necessary.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this exciting and pivotal role to NHBC will require you to lead, inspire and shape a commercial Health & Safety (H&S) Services business and an internal corporate H&S group strategy with a national remit.  You will support a team of H&S professionals to provide a UK wide consultancy service for customers in the house building industry, whilst providing support to ensure NHBC staff work in a safe, secure and compliant manner.

Duties within the role will include:

  • Strengthening NHBCs reputation and brand by developing H&S networks with government (Incl. HSE), house-builders and other industry bodies (e.g. HBF).
  • Build partnerships with customers to understand their specific business requirements.
  • Oversee H&S  business planning, budgeting and business development activities.
  • Monitor business performance through development and implementation  of key metrics  
  • Collaborate with Product Management and the NHBC Services Ltd Board to develop and implement a strategic plan to transform H&S Services into a consultative, ‘data driven’ business.
  • Effectively lead the H&S Services management team, ensuring customer expectations are exceeded.
  • Support Group H&S Manager to  keep NHBC’s Executive and Non-Executive Directors up to date on current development in health and safety legislation and best practice that are  relevant to NHBC’s undertakings and responsibilities.
  • Advise Executive Committee (ExCo) members, senior managers and staff, to ensure the appropriate level of health and safety compliance is maintained throughout NHBC.

About you

In order to be considered for this exciting opportunity you will ideally bring the following expertise:

  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH).
  • Skilled networker with experience of managing key stakeholders within the H&S sector.
  • Strong business acumen, coupled with a drive to coach and develop H&S professionals.
  • Developer of systems and procedures that ensure business expectations are met and/or exceeded.

Personal Attributes

Although not essential an advantage will be given to applicants that already offer experience of working at a senior level within the House Building and/or Construction industry.

With regards to personal traits and attributes, you will be a highly visible leader, charismatic with excellent motivational qualities, whilst remaining calm and measured when operating under pressure.

Salary / Benefits:
