Principal Designer & CDM Advisors
Safety For Design Ltd, winners of APS Principal Designer of the Year 2018, are looking for PD & CDM Advisors to join our team. Due to continued growth and success we require health and safety professionals who can provide CDM advice on a wide range of major residential and commercial projects to achieve compliance with CDM 2015.
Candidates will be required to work from our Head Office in Whitchurch, Shropshire and office in South Wales; serving projects nationwide. The positions would not be suitable for those living further north than a reasonable commutable distance from our Head Office in Shropshire.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on a large range of major building projects including high rise and new build varying from fast turnaround fit-outs to large capital projects. The roles involve providing both Principal Designer duties and construction health and safety advice.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include;
- Assisting with the successful management of CDM projects, to ensure projects are compliant;
- Working with the Company’s bespoke CDM Policy;
- Attending project and design meetings, raising issues highlighted by project and drawing review;
- Preparation of detailed documents, inc. Pre Construction Information pack’s, Design Risk Assessment’s, Construction Phase Plan reviews, Health & Safety Files etc. to an appropriate standard suitable for issue to the project team;
- Undertaking monitoring site visits and inspections to determine H&S compliance.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A thorough knowledge of CDM2015 regulations and associated legislation;
- A sound understanding of the general principles of prevention and risk reduction in the design process;
- NEBOSH General and Construction Certificate with post qualification experience;
- Construction industry experience;
- Registered Member of Association of Project Safety (IMaPS or CMaPS) desirable;
- Valid UK driving licence;
- Good standard of IT skills, inc. MS Office Suite are required.

- Self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high quality CDM services on a range of projects;
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
- A positive approach to adaptations of project/Clients requirements.
Salary - £30k - £45k, dependant on experience and qualifications + car/travel expenses
