Health & Safety Manager

A principal contractor with a global presence is looking for a Health & Safety Manager to lead a £50 million highways project based in West Midlands region. The role will be focused on site for the duration of the project, the project has 3 years remaining with further projects in the pipeline in the region. The ideal candidate will be looking to step into a managerial role or have previous experience in leading a team on a civil engineering project, the ideal background would be highways or civil engineering.

The Role:

• To lead SHE on site and be the main point of contact for all SHE related queries 
• To prepare and undertake audits and inspections of all company operations
• Prepare health and safety reports and statistical/performance data and present reports at all management levels as required
• Record audit findings within the required database system and ensure the details of any improvement actions are further recorded in the database
• To investigate reports of accidents, incidents and near misses, determine their causes and make recommendations for improving recurrence prevention and controls
• Review Risk Assessments and Safety Method Statements in accordance with company management system procedures

The Candidate:

• 3 years plus experience working in Health & Safety 
•  Previous experience working within Highways or Civil Engineering environment would be a distinct advantage
• NEBOSH Certificate minimum, ideally NEBOSH Diploma or working towards 
• Tech IOSH, working towards Grad IOSH 
• Enthusiastic individual who is looking to progress in safety
