The Role:

Working within the Human Resource and Organisational Development Directorate (HR&OD) and reporting to the Assistant HR Director, Health Safety and Wellbeing you will work closely with the University’s faculties and professional services staff. Through and enabling and collaborative approach, you will play a crucial role helping to create a sustainable and values driven health and safety culture at the University.

This is an amazing opportunity to join a forward-thinking and dynamic Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team to create impactful change, driving best practice forward.

Working closely with stakeholders you will:

  • Provide strong, visible, proactive functional health and safety leadership.
  • Deliver high quality, professional and proactive support.
  • Influence and empower faculties and professional services staff to shape and implement robust health and safety plans that drive performance improvements where required.
  • Undertake accident investigations and ensure that preventive actions are implemented.
  • Develop policies and processes to assist and enable the University to comply and achieve improved outcomes.

You will be:

  • Progressive and forward thinking.
  • Highly engaging and have a compelling communications style.
  • Demonstrate experience of managing risk in a specialist working space e.g. laboratory, engineering workshop, specialist workshop or theatre.
  • Ambitious and results driven.
  • Ready to take ownership of health and safety issues and empower others to do the same.
  • Able to work supportively in a team environment and able to effectively work independently.
