A food manufacturer based in Chester are looking for a HSE Supervisor/Manager to drive H&S standards

Your new company
The company are a food manufacturer that supply their product to a number of retailers such as M&S and Aldi across the UK. The company, although a relatively small company operate from 4 sites across the UK. This particular site is based in a semi-rural location on the outskirts of Chester but the company would like their new recruit to regularly visit the other sites too.

Your new role
As HSE Supervisor/Manager you will be responsible for the day to day operation of HSE with the Chester site but will also have some indirect responsibility for compliance at the other sites and will require travel to the sites. You will ensure that the company complies with HSE regulations and promote a positive H&S culture across the site. Some of the responsibilities are listed below

  • Undertake safety audits and maintain RAMS
  • Manage regular fire drills and fire safety
  • Conduct coaching and training for managers to ensure they are fully on-board in relation to HSE
  • Chair H&S committee meeting and regularly update the MD
  • Actively promote safety awareness and safe working practice across the site
  • Manage accident reporting procedures and coordinate RIDDOR reporting where necessary
  • Report back KPI's on a weekly basis
  • Manage relations with external bodies such as environment agency and HSE


Although senior support is available you will be required to manage the department independently and will be someone who will stand by their decisions and objectives even though there could be some challenges to overcome. You will be expected to be a 'can-do' type of person.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be qualified to NEBOSH (or equivalent) as a minimum. You will have significant experience within manufacturing sites (preferably food) and in depth knowledge of HSE legislation. You will be an excellent communicator with a positive attitude and a desire to continually progress and improve.
