The private rented sector plays a very important role in Enfield’s strategic approach to meeting housing need. Enfield Council is committed to work in partnership with private rented sector landlords to improve and maintain high standards of accommodation and professional management and provide good quality housing.  The introduction of a private rented property licensing scheme will help us to identify and deal with private rented homes where safety standards are not being met and where properties are not being properly managed.

As a Fire Safety Advisor, you will be experienced in providing expert advice and guidance on fire safety in private rented premises, identifying regulatory fire safety deficiencies and recommending code compliant solutions to minimise the fire safety risks. You will have demonstrable skills in providing excellent customer service and be able to converse easily to deliver comprehensive fire safety advice and assistance to landlords, property agents and other providers to understand the legal framework in which they operate.

You will manage and develop the consultation and liaison requirements between the Private Rented Housing – Licensing & Enforcement Team and the London Fire Brigade Regulatory Fire Safety and ensure that all aspects of the established joint protocols, principles and joint working arrangements are implemented and maintained.

You will have the ability to carry out property inspections, working collaboratively with Licensing Inspection and Enforcement officers, providing advice and guidance on fire safety matters affecting privately rented premises and Houses in Multiple Occupation. Your communication skills must be highly developed as engagement with officers, partners and agencies and submission of regular reports are key to the role.

You must hold a recognised professional qualification relevant to the role.

To help you help us, we can offer flexible working or compressed hours, home working opportunities, generous annual leave, personal development opportunities such as training and a friendly working environment.
