Benefits and Allowances
A large Local Authority is seeking leadership of its Corporate Health and Safety Team and looking for an experienced practitioner to manage and lead the Team. The Team sits in the Environmental Health and Trading Standards Service within the Place Directorate.
The post holder will have a broad remit that will set the standards and develop the safety culture across five Directorates. Service areas include schools, parks and open spaces, waste, depot, transport, mortuary services and much more.
The postholder will be responsible for managing and setting the direction of the five Advisors and support the Mortuary Manager with general compliance and management to the regulatory framework.

Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist
The successful candidate will be set key strategic direction with Senior Managers within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety Audits, Inspections
Policy and Guidance formulation
Working with Advisors on leading the risk profiling, risk assessment review and development
Develop, Implement and audit HSMS/EMS Systems Review and update COSHH risk assessments Site Occupational Health & Safety duties Administration of HSMS/EMS Management Systems documentation Deliver health safety and environmental management initiatives Training Investigate incidents
Requirements
Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist – skills and experience required include Proven Local Authority/commercial experience Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001 Strong Management Systems auditing experience Passionate about Health, Safety and Environmental Management - able to spread this enthusiasm across the Team/Council Strong , influential personality Communication skills at all levels NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ 4/5 Chartered Member of IOSH
