Group Head of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS)

Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Health and Safety Department based at the Port of Liverpool.

Role Purpose: To act as deputy to the Group EHS Director and support strategies designed to promote a positive safety and sustainability culture.

This role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Leadership engagement across the Group, to make certain EHS responsibilities are understood and practiced in accordance with standards as defined by the EHS Chair and CEO
  • Help ensure strict compliance with all statutory H&S, Marine Safety and Environmental regulations
  • Coach and mentor senior leaders on EHS strategies, to promote a positive safety culture across the Group
  • Develop, maintain and present to the Board a diligently considered Group EHS risk register
  • Progress a programme of Group compliance audits for EHS, ensuring that audit findings and opportunities for improvement are incorporated into annual planning cycles at Group and port level
  • Ensure company policies align with all its regulatory and statutory obligations and are implemented consistently across the Group
  • Develop and maintain robust monitoring processes.  Analysing trends, metrics and incidents, making certain remedial actions are owned and effected at the earliest appropriate opportunity

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in a Senior Health, Safety and Environment Management role
  • Ability to implement a progressive safety culture
  • Organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workload to meet the commitments and objectives of the group
  • Able to build strong, long lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate high personal standards and hold others to account to meet commitments
  • Develop talent, nurturing people to meet their career aspirations and deliver the goals of the organisation
  • Ability to implement and execute a group wide EHS plan
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and proactivity
