About the role:

Capital City College Group is seeking a highly qualified health and safety professional with a wide range of knowledge and experience in health and safety and compliance to lead in the delivery of a healthy and safe learning and working environment across our college group.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to act flexibly in order to adapt to a frequently changing work environment and priorities, reflecting the diverse activities and risk profiles associated with delivering practical education within the constituent colleges forming the Group.

Leading a small team, the applicant will be able to apply meticulous attention to organisation and detail and will instil an unwavering focus on compliance, taking into account the critical need to protect learners from harm, many of whom are young or are vulnerable adults. Supporting this the applicant will provide an inspirational example to the team in raising professional standards through knowledge gained from a dedicated pursuit of continuous professional development.

The applicant will have excellent oral and written communications skills in order to:

• Present the health and safety case to people at all levels in the organisation including governors, directors and senior managers and promote a positive health and safety culture.

• Deal authoritatively and decisively with cases of non-compliance.

• Manage communications with outside bodies including auditors, contractors and enforcing authorities.

• Coach, train, support and lead the team to continuously improve performance.

The successful candidate will have proven ability and commitment to lead in the application of technology to support the development of health and safety systems. Key to success will be experience of delivering quality health and safety performance through the application of the Plan, Do, Check, Act model and will have experience of leading or playing an important part in an organisation reaching a recognised health and safety standard such as ISO 45001.
