The Health and Safety Department at the University of Nottingham provides strategic and operational support to the University, including delivery of health and safety governance and assurance programmes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the University in a newly formed role. Reporting to the Health and Safety Advisor, you will deliver expert advice and science-related health and safety support.  You will work alongside colleagues in the Health and Safety Department, supporting on science related issues, including radiation, lasers, biosafety and chemical safety. In addition, you will provide general support and advice to staff and students on a wide range of topics, with the mission of supporting a positive safety culture.

You will be a hands-on, pragmatic, people-orientated individual, with demonstrable influencing skills. You will be a team player with the ability to engage collaboratively with staff at different levels, organise your own time effectively and have a flexible approach - as the work demands can change.

You should have experience of providing science health and safety advice in a similar organisation or role or managing health and safety in a laboratory setting. You should hold a science degree or have equivalent experience. You will ideally also hold a NEBOSH certificate or be willing to undertake one.

Previous experience in a Higher Education environment is desirable but not essential.
