Health and Safety Systems and Audit Lead

Reference: REG388120

Salary: £40,322 to £49,553 per annum

The Health and Safety Department at the University of Nottingham provides strategic and operational support to the University, including delivery of health and safety governance and assurance programmes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced health and safety professional to join the University in a newly-formed role. You will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will join the existing team, reporting to the Director of Health and Safety. You will lead on the University auditing process and programme and on the University Health and Safety Management System, supporting colleagues in the Health and Safety Department and wider University. In addition, you will provide general health and safety support and advice to staff and students on a wide range of topics, with the mission of supporting a positive safety culture.

You will be a hands-on, pragmatic, people-orientated individual, with demonstrable influencing skills. You will be a team player with the ability to engage collaboratively with staff at different levels, organise your own time effectively and have a flexible approach - as the work demands can change.

You should hold the NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, an equivalent qualification or have the relevant experience. You should have significant experience in a similar or related role and experience of auditing. A lead auditing qualification is desirable but not essential. Previous experience in a Higher Education environment is desirable but not essential.

At the University, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop and reach your professional and personal career goals in a friendly and professional environment. In addition to this, we are able to offer highly competitive salaries, a generous holiday entitlement of 30 days plus bank holidays and University closure days; a benefits package including contributory pension scheme and the opportunity to take advantage of salary sacrifice options and retailer discounts. As a University employee, you will have access to the excellent sport, leisure and childcare facilities across our campuses.

This is a full time, permanent position. Post is open to part time working, minimum 29 hours per week. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Interviews will be held during the week commencing: 25th January 2020.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Neil Hawthorne, tel: +44 (0) 115 95 13400 or email Neil.Hawthorne@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
