About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly ambitious and dynamic Health and Safety Consultant to join our ever growing team. A passion for delivering high quality technical work and enthusiasm for problem solving and identifying solutions are essential to this role.

The position requires a dynamic and driven individual who will provide in-house and safety support to the wider Ecus team, as well as working as a health and safety consultant supporting our external clients.

This position would suit a health and safety professional with 3-5 years post qualification experience who is keen to develop their technical skills further with our support.  Reporting to the Business Manager, the role will be based in either our Sheffield or Manchester offices, with scope for flexible / remote working arrangements to be considered.

You will be supporting on the delivery of a multitude of health and safety projects covering a diverse range of sectors. Typical projects include; gap analysis, management system design and implementation, auditing, inspections, policy and procedural development and general advice/support to businesses.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting site visits; including gap analysis,  inspections and internal audits
  • Providing advice and support;
  • Designing and assisting with the implementation of management systems;
  • Writing Safe systems of work, policies and procedures;
  • Providing support with preparation for ISO certification audits;
  • Providing health and safety training;

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Professional health and safety qualification (level 6 or above);
  • Corporate membership of IOSH (or working towards this);
  • Working knowledge of ISO standard 45001;
  • Experience of internal auditing;
  • Experience of advising and supporting  health and safety management;
  • The ability to work away from home and occasionally during antisocial hours as / when required.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • IRCA certified internal or lead auditor in ISO 45001;
  • Experience of delivering training ;
  • Experience of health and safety in construction and the implementation of CDM;
  • Experience of health and safety in the outdoor environment.
