Millfield school is look for an ambitious Health and Safety advisor who will champion H&S and who enjoys bringing people together.

Millfield is one of the leading UK independent schools for boys and girls, aged 2-18 years. Millfield is not like other schools and never has been. Founded in 1935, Millfield’s vision is to be the world leader for the development of children. There are nearly 1300 students at the senior school (year 9 to U6) and a further 450 students at the neighbouring Prep School. Although essentially a rural British school, 20 per cent of Millfield students are international and come from more than 70 countries. Millfield’s size brings great opportunity and the facilities are unmatched in the UK.

The Health and Safety Advisor plays a key role in helping look after the welfare of both staff and pupils. The role will involve working across both the senior and preparatory school campuses and the successful candidate will work closely with all staff to drive the safety culture and champion the development of behavioural safety management. The post holder will also ensure that measures are in place to meet all legal compliance obligations associated with Health, Safety and the Environment.

To be successful in this role you will need to be qualified to a minimum standard of NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent level). A formal environmental management qualification would also be advantageous. You will need to be a passionate, self-motivated and enthusiastic people centred person with strong influencing skills.  Leadership qualities and excellent communication skills are also essential. 

Whilst an understanding of independent schools would be advantageous, applicants are welcomed from all sectors of industry.

This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday all year, offering a competitive salary and 5 weeks paid holiday per year.
