Irwin & Colton have been engaged by a large, well known county council who work across the education sector to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor. The council provides a range of services to schools and education institutions across the Staffordshire/Midlands area. Reporting into the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, this role will act as the key advisor to nominated areas across the region.

Responsibilities for the Health and Safety Advisor will include:

• Visiting schools and education institutions undertaking full health and safety audits and inspections
• Assisting in the development of health and safety training plans, course programmes and content and delivering training courses where necessary
• Reviewing the production of risk assessments and method statements and answering any health and safety related queries
• Acting as the key point of contact for the client on any health and safety related matters

The successful Health and Safety Advisor will have:

• Proven experience in a similar health and safety role ideally within schools, housing or a council related sector
• NEBOSH / NCRQ certificate (as minimum) ideally Diploma (or working towards) and membership of a relevant body (i.e IOSH)
• Excellent communications skills with proven experience engaging a wide range of stakeholders
• Experience in delivery of health and safety training
