Our new approach to safety, health and environment management and our ambitious plans for the future, make this an exciting time to join the UCLan SHE Department. We are seeking a dynamic forward-thinking individual, with a proven ability to influence and succeed within a complex and fast paced environment.
We are seeking an individual with safety, health and environment experience to support the work of the Health and Safety Department in the role of Safety, Health and Environment Co-Ordinator reporting to one of the Lead SHE Advisers. The successful candidate will:
- Provide comprehensive proactive and professional SHE advice, training, instruction and information across the University to ensure high quality SHE standards are achieved.
- Maintain an awareness of activity within the wider University; develop, consult and implement SHE related University procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practice.
- Inspect, audit, monitor and report on SHE standards within School/ Faculties and Services in line with legal requirements, best practice and University policies and procedures.
- Play an important role assisting the SHE Department in promoting health and safety culture across the University with a strong emphasis on coaching and training.
Experience of working in the field of safety, health and environment is essential with experience of fire, estates/construction or chemical safety highly desirable. An ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and initiative is essential as is an ability to influence positively at all levels in the University as well as manage your own workload to meet deadlines.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, coupled with a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and membership of IOSH, the successful applicant will also have a good working knowledge and application of Health & Safety legislation.
