A contract working with a large public sector organisation in Bristol as a Health, Safety and Quality Manager.

I am currently working with a large public sector organisation based in Bristol, looking for a Health, Safety and Quality Manager on a 3 month contract (inside scope) £33per hour, hybrid working available.

This role is critical to achieve the Campus Division strategies and objectives and provides a layer of management to oversee and manage the day-to-day operational objectives of the Campus Health, Safety & Quality Assurance team.

The role holder will also act as Deputy to the Head of Campus Health, Safety & Quality Assurance team in their absence, as there is currently no provision for this. It will provide continuity for the service to ensure that compliance and H&S for the Division and the entire University estate is maintained at all times.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE

  • Analyse and interpret accident performance and other health and safety and quality assurance data e.g. permits to work, statutory inspection outcomes using a range of techniques e.g. lost time accident frequency; identifying trends, testing possible solutions, sourcing additional related information where appropriate, and reporting on progress to the Heads of Teams or the wider Division through briefings or formal reports.
  • Develop and monitor a system for the identification of H&S Campus Division-wide risks, agreeing priorities for action with functional managers including the highlighting and reporting of residual risks.
  • Develop and implement KPI's and the reporting mechanisms to demonstrate to University governance committees that the Campus Division is performing to legal requirements and industry acceptable standards with regard to compliance Interpret legislation, regulations and national codes of practice.
  • Advise on the implications of non-compliance, responding to and applying any necessary changes.
  • Design and deliver health and safety training material. Develop and implement an internal audit system and schedule audits.



ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE REQUIRED

  • Hold the NEBOSH Diploma or working towards, or equivalent qualification plus experience in a similar role(s).
  • Well-developed understanding of H&S systems/services and processes.
  • In depth health and safety management experience in a large complex organisation (e.g. Higher Education or Facilities Management).
  • Extensive understanding of relevant Health & Safety and other property/building-related regulations and legislation and the implications of non-compliance.

Umbrella rate: £33 per hour 3-month contract + ongoing 35 hours per week - 2/3 days site based
