HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISOR (ESTATES, SPORT AND COMMERCIAL SERVICES)

Are you looking for your next challenge?  We are looking for experienced, passionate Health and Safety Advisers to join our team at an exciting time of change and improvement to the University Safety Services.

Our Health and Safety Advisors provide a customer focused service to the University community. Working as part of a central team of health and safety professionals, technical and administrative support staff, this role holder will work closely and collaboratively with the University’s Estates Division and Sport and Commercial Services Division as a Health and Safety Business Partner, providing proactive health and safety advice and support to achieve the highest standards of health and safety management and compliance.

We are seeking an individual who excels in great customer service and who has proven experience in providing competent health and safety advice and support, ideally with experience in facilities and construction health and safety management. You will need excellent organisational skills, have good communication and IT skills, be self-motivated and able to work as part of a successful team.

In addition, you will have a relevant degree or equivalent level qualification or experience as well as NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent academic qualification in Occupational Safety and Health.

This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to join our increasing team working as a Health and Safety Business Partner to the University’s Estates Division and Sport and Commercial Services Division.

Working in a hybrid way, although primarily on campus with some working at home, you will act as a key contact for Managers and staff from your allocated Business Partner areas, working collaboratively to provide advice and support to enable them to implement, maintain and improve health and safety management arrangements and standards.

The role involves a diverse range of activities including participating in the regular review of the University health and safety management system, policies, rules and procedures and the development and implementation of new management systems, provision of training, undertaking safety inspections and internal and external audits, accident and incident investigation and monitoring KPIs.

You will have specialist responsibility for providing advice, guidance and support on Facilities and Estate health and safety management including compliance with the Construction, Design and Management Regulations.

You will work collaboratively with the rest of the team, staff and students to foster and strengthen health and safety culture at the University, promoting positive corresponding behaviours.

Successful applicants will demonstrate motivation for the role, evidence for the skills outlined in the person specification and a commitment and passion for strengthening health and safety culture.

This full-time post is available immediately on an indefinite basis.

In addition to this post, we are advertising for two further Health and Safety Advisors with different specialisms – one focusing on Biological Safety and DGSA and one focusing on Incident Reporting and Investigation.
