Job Title: Highways Maintenance Senior SHE Manager

Location: Flexible working available, where you will be based out of our Salford / London office with home working available and some travel to other offices and sites

Business area: Highway Maintenance Projects

Contract / Hours: Permanent, Fulltime.

Salary: £60k - £70k DOE + Car + Private Healthcare + 26 days' annual leave + bank holidays + Benefits

As result of Kier winning several contracts, we are looking to appoint a Highways Maintenance Senior SHE Manager to lead the SHE teams in the Maintenance framework contracts. Reporting functionally to the Head of HSW&E, with an operational management reporting line to the business unit MD. Providing additional support to the contracts and Head of HSW&W.

Key Responsibilities

The Highways Maintenance Senior SHE Manager is responsible for the co-ordination and provision of all SHE support to the Highways Maintenance Business Unit. This task will be carried out in a manner wholly consistent with Kiers SHE policies without compromise. Under the direction of the Managing Director & Head of HSW&E, delivering Kiers strategic goals for SHE through the development and application of specific Business SHE programmes aligned to Kier Group's strategy and Critical Operating Tasks (COTs). Promote Kiers vision and values to internal and external stakeholders, in particular for Health, Safety, Wellbeing & Environment. Ensure the Business Unit remains compliant with all legislation regarding Health Safety and the Environment. Work proactively with other Business Unit SHE Managers and the Head of HSW&E to provide support and advice on SHE issues as deemed necessary, and to ensure that the Kier Group SHE policies and any local guidance are fully aligned in order that no conflict or confusion exists.

What do we need from you?

  • Chartered SHE professional CMIOSH or equivalent (or demonstrable IPD/CPD equivalent)
  • Diploma or equivalent in Health and Safety
  • Detailed understanding of SHE legislation
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 45001 Standards
  • Highways/General Civil Engineering background with Significant experience in similar or supporting post
  • Methodical & able to follow through, even for small matters
  • Good oral and written communicator at all corporate levels
  • Good training skills and ability for public speaking
  • Ability to work as part of and lead teams
