Are you a Health, Safety and Wellbeing professional looking for a varied role where you can really make a difference?
We’re looking for two Advisors to support our Corporate and Traded Services customers with a wide range of challenges.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly and dedicated Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team, part of a wider People Services Team awarded PPMA Public Sector Team of the Year in 2021.
About the Role
Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor – Corporate Team
The Corporate HS&W Advisor role involves working directly with a range of services within LCC. These services vary from social care, schools, libraries, offices, and to parks, highways, and recycling centres, the broad range of services creates an exciting opportunity for someone looking to expand their H&S experience.
You will carry out health and safety audits, inspections, and accident investigations and will provide advice to managers within dedicated departments to undertake their health and safety duties and responsibilities. You will also be involved in exciting project work such as developing and delivering health and safety training, health and safety campaigns, implementation of the Council’s health and safety management system and updating policies and documentation.
Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor – Traded Services Team
A highly motivated and dynamic team acting as consultants, auditors and trainers. Our growth is based on exceptional service and therefore we require the best people.
Working for our traded service we work with clients in education, county, district and parish councils. We also work with clients in the culture and leisure sectors, construction, warehousing, ALMO’s and other commercial sectors.
Our main client base is in education so knowledge of this sector would be a distinct advantage, however applicants with a broad base of knowledge will also be considered.
This is a great opportunity to develop your expertise to a range of work including risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits and advisory work. You’ll also act as a duty officer, carry out staff training, update H&S information and pitch to academies and other clients for the provision of H&S services.
You will contribute to a mix of group and individual projects, working with our large and experienced team from diverse work backgrounds.

In both roles you will be supported by a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor and the Corporate Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager, along with a team of other advisors.
The service, which is ISO45001 certified, sits within People Services, winners PPMA Public Sector Team of the Year Award 2021, meaning we work closely with Human Resources, Organisational Development and Learning and Development teams. The corporate and traded teams work closely together creating a supportive environment for staff to develop their knowledge and experience from each other.
This is a great opportunity for you to develop your expertise through exposure to a broad range of work and variety of work environments and challenges.
The post is available as a combination of office and home working. You will be required to visit Council sites across the county, and potentially further afield if working within the Traded team.
About You
- You'll have a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Level 3) or equivalent qualification.
- You'll have IOSH Technical Membership
- You'll have experience of undertaking health, safety, and wellbeing activities, including good knowledge and understanding of hazards, risks and control measures that can be applied to a broad range of service areas.
- You'll have knowledge and understanding of ISO45001.
- You'll be able to write accurate and concise health and safety reports using template documents.
- You'll be a strong, concise, and effective communicator at all levels, including ability to deliver Health and Safety training.
- You'll be able to demonstrate a fluent understanding of ICT programmes including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
This role will require regular travel across Leicestershire (potentially further afield in the Traded Services team), so a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are required. However, reasonable adjustments will always be considered for applicants with a disability.
