This is a remote position (meetings held via Teams) and you will not normally be required to travel. You will be contracted to work on specific papers (this is not a full- or part-time role).
At NEBOSH, we work closely with SMEs when developing our assessments. SMEs work alongside NEBOSH’s lead assessment developers, applying their combined expertise and experience to create high quality assessments. Most of our current work involves scenario-based assessments, in which learners are required to apply their understanding in the context of a realistic scenario. But our work also involves creating other types, such as structured response and multiple choice questions.
We are currently looking for freelance SMEs for examined units of the following qualifications :
- National and International General Certificates in Occupational Health and Safety;
- Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK and International) certificates;
- Certificate in Fire Safety;
- Environmental Management Certificate;
- National and International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals;
- National and International Diploma in Environmental Management.
What we need from you
Essential requirements:
- A relevant qualification at RQF Level 6 / SCQF Level 10 – this could be in health and safety, environment or in a specialist area such as fire or construction.
- A good, up-to-date, working knowledge of health and safety or environmental management or relevant specialist areas.
- Good writing skills and command of the English language.
- You must be able to commit some of your time – we envisage that you would need to commit to approximately four weeks per year, spread throughout the year to help with the writing process. You will also be required to attend authorisation panels. Certificate (excluding the construction certificate) panels are generally held over one day; diploma and the construction certificate panels are normally held over two days. However, you would need to be flexible as sometimes the panels may run over into a second day. You will be advised of the authorisation panel dates several months in advance of the date. However, we sometimes have to move the dates, so, again, you will need to be able to be flexible on dates.
Desirable requirements
- Relevant experience working in Health and safety or Environment or specialist fields (this will help when developing scenarios).
- Previous experience of working with an awarding organisation.
- Experience of developing assessments.
You must also have your own IT equipment and access to a reliable internet connection as meetings are normally held remotely via Microsoft Teams.
What you will receive
- This is a paid role for which you will receive £347 per seven-hour day (£49.57 per hour).
- Reasonable paid expenses if you are required to travel to any meetings on NEBOSH’s behalf.
- Inclusion of working with NEBOSH on your CV.
Interview
If selected, you will be required to attend a remote interview. Part of the interview will involve you undertaking a short aptitude test. It is envisaged that the interviews will be held at the end of March/beginning of April 2024.
