Role: Health and Safety Advisor
Hours: Full-time (40 hrs/wk)
Salary: £40,000 plus company car or car allowance
Location: Purfleet, Essex plus London and the South Coast

Location
The role is based at our Materials Recycling Facility in Purfleet, Essex but involves regular travel to our other operational sites on the South Coast (Lancing and St Leonards-on-Sea) plus visits to customer sites in and around London.
Hours
40 hours per week (Monday-Friday) Office/Site based
The Role
As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will work across the company, proactively seeking areas for improvement and development in health and safety performance. This is a busy, varied role and a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and broaden your experience.
Responsibilities
- Advisor for Health and Safety across all sites
- Responsible for developing and conducting training with staff and driver trainers
- Responsible for developing and presenting health and safety inductions to all new starters
- Complete all paperwork related to workplace accidents, incidents, near misses and Road Traffic Collisions in a timely manner including investigation, notification and recommendation for improvements
- Assist the Compliance Director in managing the Company’s Occupational Health and Safety Management systems and ISO 45001 certification
- Conduct Health and Safety audits/site visits across all Recorra sites
- Create Risk Assessments and Method Statements and update as required
- Manage and maintain emergency procedures at all sites including fire drills, site checks and first aiders
The Person
As our Health and Safety Advisor you will have:
- Experience in a similar role ideally within waste management, engineering or manufacturing
- A NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Up to date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
- Excellent time management skills
- Solid IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Positive and approachable
- A self-motivated individual, happy to work autonomously
- Ability to balance a busy workload with minimal direction
