Health and Safety Officer
Salary: Circa £30,000 (Plus Excellent Benefits and Progression) + (2 Days WFH)
Location: London
Irwin and Colton has been engaged on an exciting new opportunity with a Multi Academy Trust of 52 schools across London. The organisation is a not for profit charity with over 25 years in the education sector, with a primary aim of eliminating inequality in education across socio-economically disadvantaged areas. The federation also operate a training centre for teachers, whilst their head office is based in Croydon. The role will focus primarily on assisting the Health and Safety Manager and Head of Health and Safety in conducting site visits, producing action plans to resolve any issues and encouraging a positive health and safety culture across each academy.
Responsibilities for the Health and Safety Officer will include:
- Assisting senior members of the Health and Safety team on site visits.
- Carrying out and compiling risk assessments, emergency action plans and other vital functions in accordance with the organisations guidelines
- Attending Health and Safety Committee meetings when necessary
- Liaising with external auditors and risk assessors to fully understand issues they uncover and ways in which these can be fixed
- Working with academies to develop and maintain Health and Safety Management systems
The successful Health and Safety Officer will have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. i.e., report writing
- Excellent organisational skills, with high level of attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team, working effectively with people across a wide range of levels and responsibilities.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload and work on own initiative.
- Commitment to delivering excellent level of professional service.
- Ability to remain calm and deal with challenging situations in an appropriate manner.
