Salary: Circa £42,000 - £48,000 + Excellent Benefits

Location: Birmingham

Irwin and Colton have been engaged on an exciting new opportunity with a leading Midlands based University, who are looking to hire a Health and Safety Advisor to join their growing team, reporting directly into the Head of Health and Safety. This role will involve contributing to Health and Safety policies, management systems and creating a positive Health and Safety culture across the numerous campuses, liaising with various members of the faculty.

Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Advisor will include:

• Developing and delivering an efficient, effective and high quality health and safety service to the University including all staff, academics and students
• Providing professional advice and guidance to inform University policy, legislation, best practice and procedure.
• Assist with the development of long term health and safety strategic plans and policies
• Help agree objectives, organise and delegate work and initiate and liaise with both internal and external bodies, committees and stakeholders

The successful Health and Safety Advisor will have:

• NEBOSH General Qualification, preferably Diploma level
• Experience across a variety of backgrounds, ideally including Education
• An up to date knowledge of new areas of Best Practice within Health and Safety
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong written communication skills (familiar with variety of risk assessments)
• Systematic and reliable approach to work
