Job Description
Who are we looking for?
Wrights of Twycross Ltd are seeking to recruit a knowledgeable and experienced health and safety manager to champion and lead the delivery of the strategic agenda for health and safety across our organisation. You will play a pivotal role in the development of the safety and environmental culture contributing to the company mission.
Providing technical knowledge, expertise and advice on all aspects of health and safety best practice, you will be both a strategic planner, with exceptional leadership and influencing skills, but retain your practical ability to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in to support the team in the field as required.
What will you be responsible for?
Reporting to our Group Head of Safety, to work within our H&S strategy, operating model and plan that enables continual improvement that supports the organisation's Strategy, FORS & ISO requirements, standards and legislation.
· Manage, coach and lead the H&S Team.
· Provide oversight and management information of H&S matters at monthly Management / Customer Review sessions, challenging performance as appropriate.
· Act as the business key advisor on Safety and legislation and statutory compliance issues.
· Supporting the Group Head of Safety in the development of a proactive and continuous improvement H&S culture, proactively engaging colleagues to embed this.
· Deliver the organisational H&S capability to support the delivery model.
· Deliver health and safety inspections, audits and reviews on behalf of senior management, ensuring compliance with internal processes and procedures.
· Conducting training, toolbox talks, inductions and investigating incidents where required.
· Act as a role model and provide technical knowledge, expertise and advice to the organisation, Directors and relevant committees in H&S matters in accordance with legislation, standards and best practice.
Qualifications
Essential skills, experience and competence required:
· A positive and pragmatic attitude to problem solving within the health, safety and environment arena.
· Knowledge and experience of occupational health & safety and environmental management systems and relevant areas of civil and criminal law implemented in complex and/or industrial environments, ideally within the waste/sewage and transport related utility industries.
· NEBOSH Diploma (Occupational Health & Safety) minimum or equivalent
· Graduate or Chartered membership of one or more of the Professional Organisations in Occupational Safety, Health or Environment and undertaking a scheme of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) e.g., chartered member of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH)
. Knowledge and or environmental qualifications an advantage but not a requirement of the role.
· Ability to provide strong, visible leadership.
· Highly developed organisational awareness, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, persuade and communicate with people at all levels within the organisation and regulatory bodies.
